Many people all over the world are very fond of Ukrainian halushky, the recipe of which is simple and the dish turns out to be tasty indeed. Especially good reputation belongs to halushky, cooked in the famous Ukrainian city of Poltava. By the way, this dish is so popular among the people of today.
It should be noted that Poltava halushky are sometimes called chicken ones.
All in all you can cook a great amount of various dishes with Ukrainian halushky, as they are considered to be rather delicious. For example, this dish is delicious as a part of the soup, you can also boil them or steam, cook with or without filling, mix wheat flour with buckwheat or corn, eat these items with sour cream or fry fat with onions to them. At at last we can’t but mention that people prefer to bake halushky in pots or to fry mushrooms to them.
What products to take
- For the dough:
- Kefir – 0,5l
- Salt – 0.5 teaspoons
- Soda – 1 teaspoon
- Eggs – 1
- Flour – up to 0,5 kg
- Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp.
- For the dressing:
- Pork forcemeat – 0.5 kg
- Carrot – 1 pc
- Onion – 1 item
- Ground coriander – 0.5 teaspoon
- Garlic – 1 head
- Meat broth – 300ml
- Smalec-1 tbsp.
How to prepare this dish
In kefir, dissolve the salt, stir the egg, pour half of the flour. Top with soda. Gradually adding flour, knead a loose dough. Put it away for 15-20 minutes.
Then halushky dough has to be rolled in a thick (2 cm) circle and cut it into strips of 2 cm wide.
Taking these stripes you should cut halushky carefully.
Cover the bottom of the steamer containers steam oil and put the items at intervals. We should also take into account that they will increase slightly in volume. Cook dumplings for 15 minutes.
Fry the finely chopped onions and grated carrots. Lay them on a plate, and on the remaining fat fry the minced meat until friability. Salt and pepper your dish. Add the coriander. Add the onions with carrots. Pour with broth and add the squeezed garlic.
Finished halushky are poured this meat and vegetable mixture.
