Salad is a cold dish, which is usually referred to as a snack particularly. However, some types of salads are considered to be the main dishes, as well as the popular nowadays side dishes. The original name of the salad dish was derived from the Italian word “salata”, which in literal translation means “salted”.
Researchers believe that such dish as a salad can be safely attributed to one of the most ancient dishes of the world’s culinary traditions. Believe you or not, but the recipes of some kinds of salads have come down to us since the days of Ancient Rome.
What products to take
- Pears – 2 pieces
- Grapefruit – 2 pieces
- Pepper green and red – per 1 pod
- Parsley – 0.5 bunch
- Salt – 1 teaspoon
- Pepper – about, 5 teaspoonfuls
- Vinegar 5% – 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil – 4 tablespoons
- Nuts or hazelnuts – 7-10 pieces
How to cook this dish
Remove a thick skin from the grapefruit with the help of a sharp knife and gently clean the pulp from the films and seeds. It is important that the film or seeds do not fall into the salad, otherwise the salad will be bitter.
Peel two ripe pears from the skins and seeds and cut each into 4 parts, and then each quarter into 3 parts.
Put everything into in a bowl, add the prepared grapefruit and paprika, cut into thin strips.
Finely cut half a bunch of parsley, one tablespoon should be left for decoration, the rest is added to the salad.
Now it is high time to prepare the dressing: into the bowl pour salt, black pepper, vinegar and lightly mix. Add the vegetable oil and whisk with a broom for 2-3 minutes.
Season the salad and mix everything well.
Put your new dish into a salad bowl and decorate with chopped hazelnuts and chopped parsley.
