Italian Minestrone

Soup Minestrone can easily be recommended to pupils, students as well as adults, who are interested in an amazing textbook of Italian history. Initially appeared some centuries ago as a dish for the poor people, Minestrone absorbed all the culture of different eras and regions.

It is believed that the ingredients of the soup, firstly cooked in the 16th century, were represented by beans, peas, greens, onions and lard. The list of the main components was formed under the influence of certain events changed regularly.

Nowadays Minestrone is considered to be a very popular vegetable soup in Italy. As a rule, it is prepared it from any seasonal vegetables. That is why there is no strict minestrone recipe. The only tradition is that there should be a lot of vegetables. The rest depends on the cook’s own imagination and personal taste preferences.

What products to take

  • Zucchini 40 g
  • Radish 40 g
  • Onion 30 g
  • Potatoes 60 g
  • Sweet pepper 20 g
  • Vegetable or chicken broth – to taste
  • Tomato 20 g
  • Pesto sauce 20 g
  • Green peas 30 g
  • Salt – to your own taste

How to prepare this dish

Step 1

Zucchini, onions and peppers are cut into small cubes.

Step 2

After that remove the peel and seeds from the tomatoes and cut into small cubes either.

Step 3

Potatoes are usually cut into small pieces

Step 4

In a saucepan it is recommended to warm up the vegetable oil. Then put the vegetables into the preheated oil (except the tomato) and fry them a bit.

Step 5

Add some broth

Step 6

Bring the ingredients to a boil condition and cook until the vegetables are ready.

Step 7

At the end of the cooking, add the sauce and tomatoes
